Mark Fraser Art Advisory was founded in 2017 by Mark Fraser, a specialist in Australian art with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. After receiving his Arts degree from Cambridge University, he began his career as a specialist at Christie’s in London. He served as the Director of the Fine Art Department and Managing Director at Sotheby’s in Australia for 19 years. He subsequently became the Chairman of Bonhams Australia and led its global Contemporary Art board in New York, Hong Kong, and London. Mark has been instrumental in achieving many record-breaking sales of Australian art, including the Reg and Joy Grundy Collection, the most valuable art auction ever held in Australia; the Foster’s Collection, the most valuable corporate collection sold in Australia; and John Brack’s The Bar, 1954, the first Australian painting to sell for over $3 million at auction.

Mark has also made significant contributions to the museum sector in Australia. In 2007, he took a break from the commercial art world and became the inaugural Director of Mona, Australia’s largest privately owned museum, during its development and opening. He has also been on the Board of the Ian Potter Museum of Art and on the Committee of the Buxton Contemporary Art Museum before its opening. He was formerly on the Committee of the Federal Cultural Gifts Program, and currently sits on the Board of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
